Calypso Technology Adopts Altus vSearch Platform for Employee Training and Education

To go with their corporate strategy to develop and deliver high-quality training content to its base of geographically dispersed employees, cut costs of classroom training, and increase employee productivity, Calypso Technology, a global application software provider of an integrated trading, risk and processing platform to financial institutions and corporate treasuries, has moved into the second phase of adoption of Altus vSearch.

Kishore Bopardikar, President of Calypso Technology said, "The on-demand capabilities of vSearch really support our strategy to deliver training to our mobile workforce in sales, presales, account management, and professional services. Before Calypso Technology adopted vSearch, each department handled training in its own way. We had an ad hoc system for training. Each department had its own processes, methodology and systems, and content was difficult to leverage. Although we shared webinars, brown-bag sessions and presentations, we lacked a single, searchable repository for content. The nice thing about vSearch is that every employee can contribute content to the portal. Adopting vSearch also helped Calypso understand how to use instructional design methodologies and best practices."

Today, with vSearch, training content resides on the vSearch-based Calypso Knowledge Portal. With this structure in place, content is developed across the organization by product managers and departmental subject-matter experts and is available on-demand 24x7 from anywhere in the world.

Ted Cocheu, CEO of Altus said, "Calypso Technology embodies a new vision of how training can be structured and delivered to meet the challenge of a global, mobile workforce. We're pleased that Calypso Technology chose Altus, and that, in some small way, we can support Calypso Technology's vision and mission."

Calypso Technology's platform for employee training and education uses Altus, a leader in enterprise video search solutions for sales enablement and knowledge sharing product called  vSearch, a video search and management system, is the platform for the Calypso Knowledge Portal, which delivers on-demand training to the company's 475-person global workforce stretched across 11 countries.

From the Calypso Knowledge Portal, staff can select and view the training module of their choice, at the time of their preference. Because all content on the portal is fully searchable, staff who are already versed in a topic and may need a refresher can advance to the point of interest in a presentation and view their selected content.

Calypso Technology is now transitioning to its second phase of training, moving from informal to formal training regimens that address the needs of employee groups such as business analysts, engineers, and marketers. As training needs grow, content on the Calypso Knowledge Portal continues to expand. Today, the portal contains over 100 courses, each with multiple presentations. Courses are structured into modules for corporate information, processes and tools, professional discipline, soft skills, Calypso expertise, and classroom training.

"Altus has helped Calypso Technology implement a training program to efficiently improve employee productivity," said Bopardikar. "In just the first phase of our work, we have reduced travel costs dramatically while also maximizing our ability to deliver the right knowledge, to the right employee, at the right time."
