Encrypted Flash Video Optimization Incorporated by Blue Coat

Blue Coat (News - Alert) Systems has announced that encrypted Adobe Flash video can be now optimized and scaled with its MACH5 WAN Optimization solutions. Extensive video capabilities have already been included with MACH5 WAN Optimization solutions by merging stream-splitting, pre-population and advanced video caching technologies.

Scaling of live or on-demand internal company video, along with external Web video, is now possible with very little effect on the network. The video can be therefore made available companywide without blocking a company’s Wide Area Network or WAN or Internet gateway, or hampering the performance of other crucial business appliances.

In a release, Steve Daheb, chief marketing officer and senior vice president at Blue Coat Systems, Inc. said, “Most companies want to significantly increase their use of internal video for training and communication but are limited by the capacity constraints of their existing WAN links to branch offices. Blue Coat removes most of the network impact associated with video by fully integrating video optimization with our MACH5 WAN optimization solution to accelerate a full range of business traffic, including Web, cloud and video applications.”

Adobe Flash, Microsoft (News - Alert) Silverlight, HTML5, QuickTime and Microsoft Windows Media are already optimized by Blue Coat video optimization. The MACH5 capabilities have been now extended to include optimization for RTMPe and RTMPte encrypted Flash.

Cloud-delivered video services are increasingly being used by businesses to provide industry-related reports and analysis. End-user digital rights management or DRM can be therefore maintained by optimizing video used at the source, with Blue Coat video optimization.

One of the main parts of the MACH5 architecture is its video optimization capabilities, which can be scaled to maintain many users. The impact on the network, while serving hundreds of users in a branch office by splitting a single stream of live video from corporate headquarters is similar to that of serving a single user.

Enterprise applications like SharePoint or SAP (News - Alert) can be also geared up for simultaneous optimization of video. Files, email, storage and enterprise applications along with Web, cloud and video applications can be now quickly and effortlessly accessed by remote branches with the MACH5 WAN Optimization solution, thereby improving branch office relationships and efficiency.

In other news, Blue Coat Systems, Inc. recently announced that it has been positioned in the Leaders quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for WAN Optimization Controllers by research and advisory firm Gartner (News - Alert), Inc. Blue Coat MACH5 WAN Optimization appliances and virtual appliances provide traditional and next generation WAN optimization to reduce network costs and accelerate performance of important enterprise applications, file access, backup and email in addition to, live and on-demand video, Web content and Web-based and cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) applications.
