There are other WAN optimization solutions in the market but company officials say that Blue Coat's MACH 5 appliance is different as it provides not only traditional but also next generation WAN optimization.
It has the ability to address traditional data types and applications and also the needs of video, cloud and web apps even in IPv4, IPv6 or mixed environments.
Steve Daheb, chief marketing officer and senior vice president at Blue Coat Systems noted that the company was well-positioned to uniquely address WAN optimization requirements in a changing WAN scenario and also address the new performance needs triggered by the increasing adoption of video, web-based applications and cloud computing services.
The company said that the MACH5 solution enables enterprise video initiatives without increasing network costs and also accelerates performance of important enterprise applications. It reduces bandwidth requirements of cloud-delivered Software-as-a-Service applications and web content.
Blue Coat's MACH (News - Alert) 5 integrates specialized live and on-demand video optimization for Adobe Flash, Windows Media, Silverlight, HTML5 and all video. Web-based applications either in the cloud or the data center can be accessed faster.
