Alert)Oro Group, total worldwide Optical Transport equipment revenue is forecast to resume positive growth in 2010, reaching $16.6 billion in 2014.
In a release, Jimmy Yu, director of Optical Transport research at Dell’Oro Group said, “We forecast positive growth of the optical equipment market this year and through 2014. We should see a couple of the optical equipment segments benefit from the focus that telecom service providers are placing on high bandwidth consumer services such as wireless 3G data and video.”
"As these services expand, we predict more 40 Gbps and 100 Gbps wavelengths will be used to bring the necessary capacity into the backbone network cost effectively. We also forecast that nearly one-third of DWDM long haul and WDM metro revenues will be 40/100 Gbps DWDM by 2014,” said Yu.
As telecommunications service providers extend their networks into metro and access applications, opportunities exist for equipment vendors to deliver high volume, less expensive components and systems.
To take advantage of the opportunities in this market, component manufacturers, equipment vendors, service providers, and financial institutions need to answer critical business questions including, what is the market opportunity for my product? Which equipment vendors lead the market? And why? And what does the future hold for 40 Gbps?
To answer these and other important questions, Dell’Oro Group delivers both quarterly reports and 5-year forecasts on the Optical Transport market.
The Dell’Oro Group 5-Year Forecast Report offers a complete overview of the Optical Transport industry with tables covering manufacturers’ revenue, average selling prices, unit shipments Tributary/Line or Wavelength shipments (by speed up to 100 Gbps). The report tracks DWDM long haul terrestrial, WDM metro, multiservice SONET/SDH, and optical switch equipment.
In February, May, August, and November, Dell’Oro Group publishes Optical Transport quarterly reports containing in-depth market-level and detailed vendor market share information on the following markets: Wave Division Multiplexer (WDM), Multiservice SONET/SDH, Optical Switch, Long Haul Terrestrial and Metro reported separately.
